Donetsk is the regional center, one of the largest industrial cities of Ukraine, cultural and business center, located in the upper reaches of the Kalmius. Donetsk today is one of the greenest cities, also known as the "city of a million roses." This is one of the biggest football centers in Ukraine, where such well-known teams are based, as "Shakhtar" and "Metallurg".

Attractions
In Donetsk, there are many interesting monuments. One of the symbols of the city of Donetsk of the metallurgical industry is "Palma Mertsalova." This elegant sculpture has beencreated from the railroad track for exposure to the largest Russian industrial and artistic exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod in 1896. The major means of local transport for Donetsk are minibuses (famous by the name of marshrutkas), buses, electric trolley busses, and trams. Donetsk has around 115 bus lines, 17 trolley bus lines, and around 12 tram lines. This huge system of local transport is enough to connect various sections of the city with each other.
